The Calendar Tea is an annual spring fellowship event at Andrews Chapel.\u00a0 It is one of two fund-raising events during the year.\u00a0 Members and friends congregate in the afternoon following the 11:00 a.m. worship service.\u00a0 The \u201ctea\u201d is actually more of a feast than a tea (as we usually think of teas).<\/p>\n
The church family is grouped based on birth months.\u00a0 A coordinator (birth month captain) is selected for each month.\u00a0 The coordinator\u2019s responsibility is to contact each person in his or her birth month.\u00a0 Each birth month decides the theme and decorations for their table and how funds will be raised.\u00a0 Food is ALWAYS a major part of that theme!<\/p>\n
A financial goal is set by the Committee on Finance and approved by the Administrative Board.\u00a0\u00a0 Each birth month is asked to donate one-twelfth (1\/12) of that amount.\u00a0 Each month decides how it will raise its portion within the church guidelines for fund-raising.\u00a0 Patrons can be solicited for this event.\u00a0 The patron lists are available from the birth month coordinator.<\/p>\n
In addition to being a great dining event, the calendar tea is also an important fellowship opportunity at Andrews Chapel.\u00a0 The tea begins with a short program held in the sanctuary.\u00a0 While the program is in progress, a group of impartial persons judge the tables.\u00a0 Prizes are awarded in several categories.\u00a0 One award is \u201c The Most Creative Theme.\u201d\u00a0 A plaque is also given to the birth month with the most people present.\u00a0 A plaque is also given to the birth month reporting the most money.\u00a0 That month then becomes the \u201cone to beat\u201d next year.\u00a0 The Chairperson(s) of the Calendar Tea may decide to award prizes in other categories.\u00a0 A favorite of the program one year was a brief fashion show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
